Peter brings 20 years’ experience in the application of engineering to orthopaedics. He holds a PhD in Orthopaedic Biomechanics and leads a team researching and developing innovative solutions in a leading UK university.
He is expert in the application of additive manufacturing (“3D printing”) to medical applications, with experience in polymer- and metal-based fabrication.
His research has been awarded grant monies from major national funders and he holds multiple patents. He also has 10 years’ experience collaborating with industry, academe and industry in the Middle East.
As Research & Development Consultant, Dr Theobald provides expertise and direction in the identification and adoption of current and emerging technologies, to ensure our solutions remain field leading. He also leads on activities engaging with funding agencies, activities that ensure we remain abreast and ahead of customer and sector demands He also supports colleagues liaising with existing and new customers.
Joe started in the orthopaedic industry in 1993 and has worked for Howmedica, Corin, Covision and Neoligaments, mainly in Export Sales and Marketing roles, before joining SurgiNovi as Sales Manager.
He has visited over 70 countries and lived as an expatriate in Dubai, Jeddah and Istanbul so knows the Middle Eastern culture well.
He has spent a large part of his working career assisting orthopaedic surgeons during operations and training in-theatre nurses.
He has worked closely with several Key Opinion Leaders to design, develop and successfully introduce unique, cutting-edge medical devices.
He has also worked for overseas distributors so is very familiar with the specific needs of importing and then supplying medical devices to end-users in both national health services and private hospitals. He recognises the vital importance of providing education, training, and marketing support to every customer and adding value to his company’s products and services. Professor Hafez is a pioneer in the development of patient-specific instrument (PSI) technology for total knee replacement (TKR) and is Professor and Head of the Orthopaedic Department at October 6 University, Egypt. After training and working in the UK for more than ten years, he got his FRCS(Ed) and a postgraduate MD degree from Leeds University. He has completed sub-speciality fellowships in hip and knee arthroplasty at Wrightington Hospital, Wigan, UK; Western Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh, USA; and St Michael’s Hospital, Toronto University, Canada. His CAOS experience began in 1998 at the University of Hull, where he worked to develop the first robot to perform TKR. His MD research project in Leeds resulted in the development of a novel PSI technique for TKR. To date he has filed 20 patents worldwide in field of patient specific tools & implants & 3D Printing.
Moghny has 20 years of experience in medical device products design and selection of materials.
He previously held the position of R&D Director in international and local medical devices manufacturing companies.
He develops more than 30 products in the field of orthopedic and dental with a specialty in patient-specific instruments and custom-made implants for Spine, Hip, Knee, Shoulder, and Tumors.
Moghny has a strong academic and research background as he has more than 10 years of experience in teaching mechanical design and product design courses for 4000 trainees with different 13 nationalities. He has 7 granted patents in the field of orthopedics from the USA, EU and Korea. Moghny is an expert in the Shanghai Additive Manufacturing Association SAMA. He is PMP and FE Certified and holds a Degree in Mechanical Design attained from Cairo University in 2000.
